APBA National Tour heads to Myrtle Beach PersonalWatercraft.com May 1, 2008 Shares Comments First East Coast stop of tour begins June 7This year’s first East Coast stop on the Hydro-Turf APBA Watercross National Tour is the 11th annual Sea-Doo Surf and Turf Championships, presented by Wizzard Media. The Springmaid Beach Resort in Myrtle Beach, SC will host the event, which takes place from June 7 to 8. This was one of the largest attended races by racers and spectators in 2007. Promoter Mike Young of Surf and Turf Promotions says this year’s event will be bigger and better. “I think Myrtle Beach is the best family destination of the entire tour, hopefully, there won’t be any crazy weather this season, we are at Mother Nature’s mercy and don’t forget it,” says Young. “At Surf and Turf, we are happy to announce the addition of Wizzard Media, to give the Hydro-Turf APBA Watercross Nationals and the Surf and Turf tour much needed national exposure that it deserves as one of the most internationally recognized action sports!” The race will take place on the south end of Myrtle Beach’s Grand Strand at the north side of the Springmaid Pier. Springmaid Beach Resort is offering spectators and racers special $99 rooms for those making reservations before May 6. Use the group name ‘Surf and Turf’ or the group number ‘5319’ to get the discounted rate. If rooms are not reserved by May 6, the cost will go up substantially. Spectators get in free and the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce has filled the weekend with several activities to keep the whole family busy all weekend long. The event will be filmed for a nationally televised series on the Water Channel, with additional coverage to be announced by Wizzard Media of Hollywood, Calif.. In addition to APBA professional racing on side, there will be live announcing from action sports celebrities at the event stage, crowd giveaways, trivia contests, top-shelf viewing from the Springmaid Pier and complimentary nearby parking is available.
