Malan and Belton record first ever win for Kawasaki JetSki Ultra 250X at Mark Hahn Memorial

It didn’t take long for Kawasaki’s 2007 JetSki Ultra 250X to earn its first checkered flag.

Tracy Malan and John Belton of Victorville Motorcycle Center in Victorville, Calif. raced to victory in the third annual Mark Hahn Memorial in February, 2007. Lake Havasu City, Ariz. played host to the grueling 300-mile event.

“Kawasaki’s 2007 Jet Ski Ultra 250X established itself as the finest endurance ski,” says Malan.

One quarter of the racing field was riding Kawasaki’s powerful PWC.

The race was made up of 30 10-mile loops and each team had to pit every hour to fuel-up and switch riders.

Winning was a family affair for Malan, having his fianc?s his crew chief and three sons helping out as mechanics.

Malan says there are four keys to winning an event like the Mark Hahn Memorial.

“There is a little bit of luck, a little bit of skill, a great ski and tremendous organization,” says Malan. “John and I provided the luck and the marginal skill, Kawasaki provided a great ski, and Luz and the entire pit crew provided the organization.”

Rodney Clemens and Andrea Blackman finished second to Malan and Belton on a Sea-Doo, while Jesse Thompson finished third in a solo effort aboard a Kawasaki.

Held in the memory of endurance racer Mark Hahn, the team format features two riders for runabout entries and up to three riders for stand-up craft. Solo riders can race aboard either style of boat.

The fourth annual Mark Hahn Memorial is scheduled for February 23, 2008.
