The four-day/four-night, Miami to Bimini adventure ride saw one-foot seas on the initial crossing of the Gulf Stream and near glassy conditions while visiting the sights of Bimini. Sixteen riders were lead by escort boats Bella Mia, The Office, and Carmita’s Way to enjoy the Bimini PWC experience. “It was a great trip and delivered on the guarantee of ‘an experience of a lifetime’,” says Tim McKercher, WaterTop general manger and event leader. “This year’s riders were spectacular and they experienced Bimini under ideal conditions while building new friendships. We were very happy with every aspect and, as normal, the hospitable folks at the Double Tree Ocean Point and Bimini Sands made sure everybody had a first-class experience!” Riding by the remains of a plane crash in Bimini. The one-of-a-kind trip included a relaxed poker run with stops at points of interest including the Bimini Road for snorkeling, lunch in Alice Town on North Bimini, airplane crash sites, snorkeling at the Sapona concrete ship wreck, and time at Honeymoon harbor. A few participants took to the mangrove trails during high tide for a unique riding experience. Lynn Silberman won the poker run with three kings and with it a prize pack from WaterTop Unlimited. Some participants also were able to demo ride the new Sea-Doo RXT iS watercraft with full-suspension and cruise control, proving to be the perfect extended touring watercraft for this type of adventure. An enormous shipwreck provided ample photo ops. The fifth annual Bimini Road Rally event is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, June 24 – Monday, June 28, 2010. The next event on the WaterTop Events calendar is the RIVA Racing HydroDrag Summer Nationals, tentatively scheduled for July 31 – August 1, 2009 in Montgomery (Wetumpka), Ala. The HydroDrag Summer National will follow the country’s biggest boating event of the year, Aquapalooza, taking place in nearby Lake Martin, Alabama hosted by the Russell Marine Group.
